Twist:
Barry McGee (aka Twist aka Ray Fong; born 1966, San Francisco, California) rose out of the Mission School art movement and graffiti boom in the San Francisco Bay Area during the early nineties. Barry McGee has become one of the leading artistic figures in California youth subculture. He draws his force and inspiration from the contrast and tension that exists between the city center and the suburbs, between wealthy districts and the slums. His visual language is at once eclectic, ephemeral, radical and, above all, heavily influenced by the daily realities of the city.

Ease...
A pick of Jose at work... This shit is sick... reminds me of Pollick's action painting...

I have always been drawn toward things that are conventionally viewed as ugly, obsolete, and derelict. Jose's intensly layered imagery really speaks to my love for urban flotsam... Traditionally, flotsam refers to a word which describes a specific kind of debris in the Ocean. Generally speaking, flotsam is the property of the finder. I view Winnipeg as a piece of 'Debris' floating by itself in a large uncaring world. within Winnipeg, there are even tinnier pieces of 'Debris' waiting to be discovered... By debris, I mean certain sounds, surfaces, people, places etc.... just little things that catch my eye... I have always loved Winnipeg and it's flavor because it is considered to be ugly, obsolete, and derelict. No one else is 'looking' here... it is an untapped resource and because of that it is far better!... Here's to Winnipeg!... sorry for the old pics... new ones coming soon...

Blek La Rat...
For those who don't know him... Blek was one of the first people to utilize stencils to make public art using icons instead of simply writing his name. Blek was makin' moves in the streets before Banksy existed!...
Subliminal Projects has a pretty good interview were Blek describes his work, click on the media button to see the interview...
Here is a slide show of his work...
Since we are talking about Blek, why don't we take a visual tour of the city he primarily works in... Paris, through the eye's of King adz...

Craig Costello...
Buy KRINK if you want to support his cause... if you want to save some cash on some mops here you go...
Use an oil-based rust paint such as Rustolium or Tremclad
empty a "Kiwi" shoe polish container
put a marbel into the cleaned out container
make a paint solution of 3 parts paint to 1 part solvent based thinner
add a bit of DOT-3 brake fluid to the mix
(the brake fluid will leave a ghost if the work is buffed)...
using a funnel pour it into the container
solution should be nice and fluid... good for drips when painting on your "canvas"
for the lawyers out there... I do not promote destruction of property... this is simply for indoor use on canvas and other "high art" practices...
p.s. regarding my last post... there is a canadian duo called [The User] doing this dotmatrix stuff as well... they had no visuals so I had to go with Sue Harding...I'm a visuals kind of guy... so, [The User] for all those looking for some Canadian content!...
